Here at Resie's Chicken and Waffles, we're proud to serve authentic Southern soul food and, as our name says, we specialize in chicken and waffles. The origin of this exceptional combo dish is vague but we like to attribute our refined version to the Harlem supper club chefs who fed this dish to musicians and dancers alike after a long night on the town in the late 1930s. Exhausted and hungry in the early morning hours, chefs couldn't decide whether they wanted to serve dinner or breakfast. Step into Resie’s and taste one of America’s sweetest traditions.
Once you've tasted our specialty dish, you'll never see chicken or waffles the same way again. We coat our chicken wings in a tasty, perfectly spiced batter and deep fry them at a high temperature so they're not too greasy. Then we pile them atop a perfectly made waffle -- crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- and serve them with maple syrup and butter. The combination of crispy, savory, delicious fried chicken; sweet, sticky syrup; and warm, buttery waffles is somehow more than the sum of its parts. It's a whole sensory experience.
But we're not only about chicken and waffles. We also serve all the traditional dishes and sides that make Southern cuisine so beloved. Try an appetizer of fried pickles and remoulade -- a house favorite! Our breakfast dishes are combinations of eggs, breakfast meat, toast, and waffles. Try Tay Tay's Combo, which is deep fried tilapia, eggs, toast, and hashbrowns. What more could you ask?
For lunch and dinner we serve combo meals consisting of a selection of all our faves. Our sides include Southern delicacies like hot water corn bread, collard greens, mac and cheese, fried okra, grits, and beans and rice. You can practically make a meal of our side dishes, and many of our customers do. You'll get a taste of the real old South at Resie's, and you'll remember it for a long time.
